I've already determined that this is the year Connecticut will get walloped by a storm. My determination wasn't made scientifically, but based instead on how things are going so far.

Yale study on climate change impact on hurricanes

Highly trained and intelligent scientists seem conclude that hurricanes will become stronger, weaker, more frequent or less frequent.

Which is why they call them "weather predictions" rather than "weather promises".

Good reminder; packing bags and checking expiration dates.
(and giving everything a monthly charge)

I am glad we have no hurricanes in Montana! I suppose the wildfires balance it out though.

Here in St. Louis, the storm passed to our west. Still some trailing branches rhat might give us rain later in the day, but I'm not holding my breath.

I am in NOLA with 2 empty barges. We will button up everything tomorrow and ride out 3-4 days of rough weather.

2020 continues to be anything but boring. We have two hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico at the same time, and both are expected to make landfall within twenty-four hours of each other.

No hurricanes here in Montana but fire season is anything but boring! Thanks to smoke (mostly from the CA fires) I can barely see the mountains from my house! shocked

Saw this and seemed appropriate:

A New Orleanian walks into a bar, says "I’ll have two hurricanes and a Corona." Bartender says that'll be $20.20.

Sounds like some coast line over there is going to be hit hard.

"Unsurvivable storm surge with large and destructive waves will cause catastrophic damage from Sea Rim State Park, Texas, to Intracoastal City, Louisiana, including Calcasieu and Sabine Lakes. This surge could penetrate up to 30 miles inland from the immediate coastline. #Laura"

My associates in Columbia, LA were hit hard, even though winds were down to Cat 1 by then. Power out, likely for days, trees down, roads blocked, etc.
