I appreciate the government and Red Cross lists - but here are some new things to think about.

If a hurricane is coming
- Keep a radio on for updates, changes, advice, new warnings, etc.
- Gas up the car
- Get dog food
- plug everything in that might need a charge; phones, laptop, GPS,etc
- Go to CVS, get everyone's prescriptions filled
- Take a shower (You might not get one for a while)
- send an email to loved ones, letting then know what your plans are

RE: getting scripts filled..... Call your insurance company! A number of them have agreed to allow you to do one additional refill at your 'normal' co-pay when a storm is expected to hit... They learned this the hard way when too many people couldn't get refills because they 'weren't due' yet and then they were getting all these calls because people ran out in the middle of the storms.

Another thing to consider.... calling emergency management where you live for info.... we run some special needs shelters (people with particularly special needs-ventilators, dependent on oxygen etc). One of the things ours had arranged in the past was knowing what pharmacies were operating during the storm. Our local Gov't had pre-planned to make certain there were at least a few open.
