Deep Survival

Deep Survival - 11/22/03 07:46 PM

I have completed reading this awsome book and will offer it up to C7 or Minime first, as they started with my first two books.
If they are not interested, I will offer it up to the group.

I can not say enough good things about what one learns from this book. Even more important than preparing to survive with the material needs, the psychological preparation is even more important.
A MUST READ!

Hi Skater,

Thank you for offering this new book to the library, I'm interested (although I'm on vacation at the moment and will back in 2 weeks, so if mimiME wants it first then please send it that way). If miniMe is not interested, then another member could be first and I'll hold second slot.

Re: Deep Survival >Checked out to miniMe today - 01/27/04 05:55 AM

"....smiling face at the post office......"
I don't want to call you an out and out liar, but are you sure it was a smiling face? At the post office?

Perhaps they just learned that they had been accepted by the TSA for a new position at the airport and they would be leaving the post office.
I think, per capita, there are more killings at US post offices than at US airports. I may be wrong.

God, I crack myself up!

May have just been early enough in the day that the Pax hadn't worn off yet. I believe that gov't workers get double the dose that the rest of us get.

Re: Deep Survival >Checked out to miniMe today - 01/28/04 12:33 AM

Hi Skater,

Yep, believe it or not...I found one. Actually I was the cause of the grin. One of the two boxes that I sent had been sealed with regular .5" scotch tape >no this is NOT acceptable to the USnail folks LOL< Hey, it was all I had at the time...anyway, when I asked if she had any "REGULATION TYPE POST OFFICE APPROVED SHIPPING" tape, she said sure but they charge for it. So a whole $1.37 later she taped it up some more. There was some small talk repartee regarding me having had a "blond moment" when wrapping it (and yes, I have the appropriate color hair ).

Side note:
Regarding the rather common post office perception, my understanding having attended some rather interesting violence free workplace training sessions is that actually the post office has really gotten on board with the program and performed a pretty solid 180 degree turnaround regarding such stuff. I think that they actually were noted in some journals as "best practices". At least, that is what we were told in the class.

Of course, it is possible that miniMe's take on it in the posting (after yours just above) might also apply as well, or perhaps all the the planets were in the needed alignment at the time.

Re: Deep Survival - 05/07/06 08:25 PM

Skater,
Pardon the intrusion, but I am new to the Group, and from what I have seen, I take it that you pass book's around to member's who are interested.....just how, may I ask, does this work?
I am an ExParatrooper and an ExDOD Police Officer, so I think it would be safe for me to say I have a "Little" knowledge about Survival.
But on looking at recent events in the news and around the world, let's say I have a renewed interest where my family is concerned.
Again, my Apologies for being long winded, but I believe in being honest, brutally so, my friend's tell me sometimes, but I prefer to be "Straight Up".......Krell
