It seems like there are a lot of new posters around here lately. Don't know if it is a result of 9/11 or what, but the input from new folks is a nice addition to this forum. Welcome to you all!!!

Hey, thats me!
I actually just happened upon this site while bored one day. Glad I did though! I've been interested in this stuff for years, and spend most of my free time outdoors. Figured, I could glean some knowledge from those more learned than I (most folks here), & help any folks out that I could.

I don't think it's 9/11, I think it's the Mt. Hood story as well as the James Kim story, and the avanlanche in Colorado story.

Those three stories. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I've seen multiple times ETS recommended on other forums sometimes with positive and sometimes with negative undertone... There are rules on ETS that do not apply in other forums and it makes this place unique.

It would be nice to see where new people come from and compare it to the current map of disasters.

Thanks OBG. 9/11 did rekindle my interest in survival (and the 2003 power outage when I was in mid-town Manhattan). That was five years ago though, and it took me this long to find this site. Glad I did though. Lots of good stuff.

Noob here, I stumbled onto this site from google.
Always have had an interest in the outdoors/camping etc. Kinda new to the "Survival" thing but learning lots every day.

I crosslinked onto this site about 3 years ago while looking for info on gear for a backpacking trip with the scouts. After lurking for a couple of years I decided I should contribute a little bit instead of just soaking it in. It's pleasing to the soul to hang with like minded people.

Reminder about the ETS member map - 01/12/07 01:11 AM

Also, Groo has put together a map on which ETS members can post a marker showing where they are in the world. Go to Groo's ETS map and just follow the directions.
