Let it snow!!! - 12/21/06 04:41 PM

Wife sent me pics from this morning at our house just south of Denver. The snow gauge sez 2' 7" and it is still coming down fairly strong. Should let up this evening, but figure to get over a meter accumlated. The big problem is it is drifting with areas of the yard already over 6' deep. The 70 foot driveway is impassable and will have to be shoveled out by the girls (both are home now, beats having dear ole dad break his back).

All the oil lamps are full, the gas fireplace is going strong, there are two 5 gallon jugs of propane in the garage, both the 4wd rigs have full tanks, both the 10 gallon water jugs have been topped off, and both refrigerators are stocked with two or more weeks of food. Oh yeah, and the liquor cabinet and wine rack are both well stocked.

Now if only I can manage to get into DIA tomorrow night, then I might be able to join them for Xmas. Happiness is knowing that the family is well prepared.

Snow isn't so funny when you have a snowdrift in an intersection that is so big that when you stand on it, the signal light is at eye level. Hopefully, the weather will be cooperative with the airlines so you can get home!

Well, the Denver airport has been closed for 2 days now.

In my case, my flight out was cancelled and rebooking would be after Christmas so the trip is cancelled.

That was too much snow.
We had a neigborhood shovelling/snowblowing party this morning to remove the 24" of snow.

I count myself lucky that I ran away from work in time to get stuck at home rather than anywhere else.

Sometimes the survival strategy that works best is to run away!

I hope you are able to get home. It isnt too bad here in Cheyenne. I heard that Denver and the front range got it bad. However, I did get to drive in some of the worst conditions I have had the misfortune of experiencing. Oh well, had my BOB (as I figured that was as portable as it gets) and I transported my co-workers to their homes. Merry Christmas to ya and yours.

I hope you get in there safe and sound!

It sounds like a nice cozy place to be.

this snow storm suppose to be heading toward Toronto, Canada this weekend. I hope to see snow soon. This weather is really strange and it is harbinger of bad things to come.
