10.5 Apocalypse - 05/22/06 06:28 AM

anyone suffer through this ridiculous tv show? It certainly glorifies FEMA as the supermen and superwomen of natural disasters -- Johnny-on-the-spot with all the help you need and no mention from the president on down of any of the public making any preparedness at all, even though half the country is disintegrating. I can't believe I watched this nonsense, and there is a second part on Tuesday. Total Hollywood television silliness.

i saw the first part yesterday because i don't have cable and nothing else was on. oh man, that acting was the worst i have experienced in quite some time. not to mention the terrible dialogue. i mean, who wrote that script already? if i didn't know any better i'd think it was a spoof of a disaster movie. i had a good laugh though.

I'll admit, I really like cheesy disaster movies. 10.5 Apocalypse, Category 7, Atomic train, Volcano, Day After Tomorrow, etc. I even record them if I can't watch. It's almost painful to watch the acting, but they're very entertaining. I can't wait for the next one, i'm trying to guess which natural disaster they're gonna completely blow out of proportion next. I'm betting Tsunami.

they did the tsunami at the beginning, wiped out a cruise ship ala poseidon adventure and never mentioned it again

The movie was a joke. FEMA action is similar to katrina response in New Orleans. I wouldn't want to be in same situation in massive earthquake.

In the movie, FEMA evacuation camp lie directly on the fault line. How stupid can someone think of this plan? People were evacuating too slow like bunch of tourists walking around the white house.

If FEMA act like the movie, California would have half its population decimated in the earthquake. The movie plot failed to count the number of dead in such earth quake.

The display of romantic affection of couple running while the water tower crash is clumsy as first grader nut cracker drama. I wonder who was the writer of this movie. The story plot was clumsy, pendatic that it had to embed special effects into plot to make it interesting to viewers. Any of us on this forum can write a better story for this movie.

i have to admit i love cheeseball disaster movies too. you gotta check out "miracle mile." anyway, in 10.5 the acting wouldn't have even interfered with the great buildup and tension in the story if they had done a better job explaining things. you know, the classic drawn out suspense disaster movies are famous for. for some reason, 10.5 seemed mostly fragmented and didn't explain enough so unfortuantely the story didn't suck me in. i really wanted it to be a better movie. oh well.

Sci-Fi channel already has a tsunami movie "starring" Corbin Bernsen, The Ex-Mrs. Bruce Springsteen (Juliette something) and the usual cast of character actor villians. Something about a madman using nuclear torpedeos to crumple seamonts and cause tsunamis. Ridiculus movie, they even manage to kill the golden retriever in the flim (a mortal sin in my book).
