Oh go bah Humbug yourself in a rollling donut - 12/14/05 05:05 AM

Who's the PC idiot that declared this' Happy Holidays?' or 'Season's greetings?' My mailman ( A lady mailman- another post) was instructed not to say 'Merry Christmas' and it seams to be a new policy in many retail establishments. All I know is during Rammadan I fasted a few days and had this incredible evening meal with my Jordanian friend Leila. Channuka is major food time along with Kwanza. I understand the candles in my aunt's menorah but I'll be damned if I remember which one is which for Kwanza as I head for my friend Richard's table to the JAWS themesong. Do you know How dumb I look in a dashiki? December 21st is the Solstice and I go up to my favourite oaktree and pour us each a single malt scotch. And then theres Christmas, the birthday moved by some pope to stop idiots like me from drinking with trees. It seems real simple to me, I see blue lights and I say happy channuka. If it's a black jew I say happy channuka kwanza. If it's a jew for jesus I have to say happy channuka christmas. Just about everyone else is Christmas, unless your a humourless athiest or born again pagan brutalising the gaelic. Then I have to wish them a meaningless turning of the planetary system or blessed beltane . Seasons Greetings just seems to emasculated to me, like 'have a nice day' which means please don't call my personel department because I didn't ring you up fast enough. I think i'll just be PC incorrect and wish the forum
Merry Christmas. My aunt Merrium is out looking for a tree to hang her blue lights in this year, and I have to help I told her it's against my religon to murder trees uneccessarily and she told me to show up or else. Oh well, I can hide at my tibetan monk's temple and sip buttered tea So, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

Chris, I don't know that they're being PC... I've always assumed that they're just LAZY.

It's like when they "Have a nice day" and they didn't even know they said it.

And it's like "How are you?" when they don't give a rat's patootie how you are or if you've got the razor poised over your wrist.

Where I work, we have been instructed to say "My pleasure" when someone says "thank you". Some of the customers already seem to be so sick of the phrase that they say everyone sounds like programmed robots. And so they do.

As far as *I'm* concerned, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

I might buy this whole protest if what we call Christmas hadn't been invented relatively recently as a means to quell the rowdy Pagan celebrations that still existed in America and elsewhere well into the 1800's...

(There's a great book on the history of Christmas called: The Battle for Christmas... )
