...to manage the threads on this forum. Several of the other forums I visit post the thread titles only. If you want to see the responses, you drill down on the lead.

This is not a criticism of the way Chris and Doug run the site. They must have the same thought at times.

Dunno... I've never admin'd UBB Threads. But ETS is at 6.1. CandlePowerForums (which appears to act like you want) is at 6.4.1. 6.5 is available from UBBThreads.

Could be ETS' version is just too old.

Well yeah but CPF is so slow.

Sasha has said that the searches are what's killing them.

And CPF has (I'm just guessing, but based on sub categories and number of user ID's I see) a lot more regular users.

Just click on Collapse button at the top right or change your personal preferences to that view.

The problem is that the default settings on this site are quite odd. Rather than give a "flat" view, which is universally the default everywhere else on the web, the forums here give a "threaded" view, which makes them very difficult to read. Fortunately, it's easy enough to change the settings permanently in your preferences.

I don't know why, but some people like the threaded mode better. I guess it's easier to see who is replying to who. That's why it's called a "preference".

So do I ..
It is much easier to understand a reply if you know what the question was... <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
