THE NEWS FROM DEEP UTAH IN DEEP WINTER

Hello! It’s me, Fulghum

This letter was prompted by the news today that the astronomers have concluded that the Universe is 13.772 billion years old. Plus or minus 39 million years.
Close enough, I guess. The news provoked my thinking and walking. . . .

The nights have been so cold and clear for the last few weeks – and the snow cover so sparkling – that going out walking at night and considering the sky was inviting. Mars was notably visible.

I had never heard of him but that was quite lovely, and accurate (more or less).
