Hi

Say you have a squishy rubber ring
1cm thick
and you need a fixed loop to tie around
you dont want to strangle/cut the rubber

using polypropylene twine
what knot do you choose and why?

How big a fixed loop do you need?
What is the purpose of the fixed loop?
Hold the rubber ring in place
Adjust the position of the ring

The perfection loop is a secure loop knot that should suit your purpose

Following your specifications.
It is a fixed loop.
It will not slip.
The standing end will serve as your lanyard.
It is an attractive knot

This is an honest question. i am not trying to nag or be picky.

Why would (k)not a bowline, figure eight, or even a simple overhand knot work just as well? I use all of those in technical climbing and rigging applications. Properly tied and dressed, they do not slip, either.

Any knot which works well is attractive,IMHO.

To some degree the answer is arbitrary. Many knots would do the trick. I might have suggested the bowline. It would be a matter of preference for me.

You are correct. Any of those knots will work equally as well. Take your pick

If you are still looking for a loop and like the bowline, consider the Tucked Bowline.

A fine knot! In climbing circles, that knot is known as a bowline with a Yosemite finish - the extra tuck along the standing part provides additional security against untying....
