Good to see another tutorial! It's been too long.

Question- Why Reaver as opposed to Square, or zepplin?

not arguing, curious

It is more secure than the square knot. More symmetrical than the zeppelin which has the ends exiting from the knot at a right angle.
It is nice to have an alternative knot in ones bank of knowledge.

I've also seen this called the vise versa knot; it's supposedly the only knot that will hold in cheap polypropylene and other slippery ropes. Once it locks down it's hard to undo, but it's holding power makes it one of my favorites.

Appreciate the tutorial - a very interesting knot. By what percentage does this knot reduce the rope strength of the cordage in which it is tied?

Specifically,how does it compare in this respect to the double fisherman's bend which is my go-to knot when joining ropes and cordage for technical climbing situations?
