Hi Guys,
How are you doing with your camping adventures?

What do you mean by "camping adventures"? Camping is the means to an end. One goes camping to climb a mountain, see what's over the next hill (extended backpacking trips), do search and rescue, engage in field projects of one sort or another, hunt game, etc. etc. Camping is the means to an end, which is the real objective.

I assume by camping, we are talking about staying overnight, more or less self contained, in some sort of portable, temporary shelter (tent, bivvy sack, debris hut).

Is this Chapter Two?

J - You’ll probably find most of what you’re looking for by using the search function. Most all topics concerning the great outdoors have been discussed by Hikermor, Montanero, AKSAR, dougwalkabout (careful, he’s Canadian so he types with an accent) and quite a few other stalwarts. Some here are or have been very active in search and rescue so they’ve seen a lot of mistakes that took a tragic turn. The closest I’ve ever been to SAR is having fostered a canine before she went into SAR training - (great dog, really needed a job).

You can use the search function for terms like knife, tarp, water, filter, first aid kit, signal mirror, whistle ... PLB. Or, you can keep asking questions about stuff that has already been discussed many times and some folk here will think, “asked and answered” and the responses will be like this one — lame.

Some topics which get into politics or religion will get shut down quickly by the Sheriff (chaosmagnet) or Blast. Doug Ritter has a strict policy on some topics and it’s not so much a line that can’t be crossed but a brick wall. Entire threads have been deleted.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Many stalwarts indeed, including one "Russ." I am honoured to be mentioned in such august company!

you all need to go to Crunchyroll and watch Laid Back Camp!
it's a anime about high school girls in Japan who go camping.
lots of focus on gear and how it's used along with cute girls
doing cute things.i got stuck on it in the first few minutes when
the solo camping girl sets up a Timberline tent in great detail
some of the gear like her chair and charcoal grill are on
my buy list.i already got 12 pounds of super high quality
binchotan charcoal! some of the places they camp have great
views but are on mountain tops with huge antenna farms, well it is Japan, but there are other mountain lakes also.
this was a sleeper among anime fans and YouTube has lots of
reviews.maybe some survival tips hidden in there too.
