It's not on the list; worlds I like to live in are Serial Experiments Lain and Haibane Renmei.

With only a few to pick from that I recognize, it would be Star Trek all the way. You're pretty much guaranteed to live a long life and not get killed, unless you happen to be some unnamed ensign who wears the signature "I will die soon" red shirt uniform. Those guys, usually from the Security Division, get thrown to the aliens routinely. So I'd want to go in as a yellow shirt command officer.

Is there any world not on the list you would like to live?

A fun topic! grin I'm a geek but even I am not familiar with all of those worlds. Many of them are from my favorite games and films. But many of them would be brutal and unpleasant places to live out your short life! Resident Evil is awesome but depending on the source/time it could be a horrible existence followed by a horrible death! The world of LotR would be potentially awesome with magic and elves but again, it would depend on what point on the timeline you occupied. The Star Wars universe would be pretty cool with tech bordering on magic and possibly learning to use the Force. And did I mention lightsabers? Yay, lightsabers! grin But very few folks are Jedi or can use the Force, so my odds of getting my own purple 'saber might be slim.

Of those listed I would choose Star Trek, especially if it's Star Trek-TNG! To me that is a utopian paradise, about the best future we could even fantasize about! Poverty, want and inequality no longer exist and money seems to have become obsolete. There are still a few diseases that they can't seem to cure but for the most part medical technology borders on magic and people live long healthy lives. Not only did SETI bear fruit but it bore and entire Federation comprising dozens if not hundreds of alien species and worlds. And of course...warp travel! We've slipped the bonds of normal physics and learned to travel fast enough to travel to the stars effortlessly.

For me Star Trek embodies all the hopes and dreams of mankind, so that's my choice!

Second the motion! Any universe that contains Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troy) has got to be wonderful.

Side note: I may be the only here who shares a name with a medical ship, the USS Jeannette Isabelle (NCC-6199).

I loved Lexx but I'm not sure I'd want to live there. Unless my time was spent with a certain cluster-lizard/love-slave! grin

Star Trek - Original or TNG.

LOTR: admire the hobbits' serious attention to food.

I've changed my mind. It would be more fun to live in the worlds of Chobits, Big Hero 6 or better yet somehow combine the two. What could be more fun than the combination of child prodigies and artificial-intelligent robots?

I would add Emerald City, as depicted in Lost in Oz, to the list.

I'll play!

I think I would go for Star Trek, the original... Blue shirt for me as science/medical would be fascinating (sorry)!

As a side note to living in 'Star Trek', any of the versions, it always surprised me that the only tools they usually had were the phaser and communicator and maybe someone had a tri-corder for data/analysis. McCoy, if he was along, would have the all-in-one FAK that could fix or cure anything with a single hypo-spray... unless the plot depended on it not working - but nobody else had any emergency medical gear.

So nobody had any sort of 'away team' go-bag or survival equipment with them. I guess the plots need the characters to work out their problems with brain and brawn but having a couple of extra tools would seem prudent. Maybe the future version of an electronic leatherman multi tool? Oh well, they are still fun to watch.

Star Wars sort of was the same way... Let's see, light saber, check. Flowing robes, check. Anything else - nope. Ready to go! It would have made some sense for Luke in the original to at least had some sort of water - being on a desert planet. Maybe I'm thinking about all this way to hard.

Considering it’s some of the best SF in recent times, I’m surprised no one has mentioned ”The Expanse”... or is it that maybe no one wants to live in that universe...

I'm not interested in living in that universe; having a real lightsaber in my EDC bag and the training to use it would be a positive thing.

One universe I do not want to be in is Thunderbirds. There's always a calamity, sometimes brought on by a criminal mastermind with unlimited resources.

Safe Haven. The idyllic 1920s Irish village on the holodeck in Star Trek Voyager.

Especially if I was a crew member.
The captain takes a fancy to the pub owner. So she instructs the computer; "make him two inches taller, give him an interest in Victorian romantic poetry. Oh and delete wife" :-).

Quick Quiz:
Which actor on Star Trek do you think has held the highest military status in real life?

a) Patrick Stewart.
b) Nelson Mandela.
c) The King of Jordan.
d) Donald Trump.

The Honor Harrington universe, for me.

The Pixar universe. Toys are alive; you're not supposed to know that. Monsters come into your room, through the closet door, to make you laugh. Superheroes are real. There are five people (Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust) who control every aspect of your life.

I mentioned Glie, the fictional walled city in Haibane Renmei. Here are pictures of that city.
