Leatherman Squirt PS4 on the keyring!

Re: Tuxedo edc - 01/07/16 10:29 PM

Had the same issue at a formal 40th just before Christmas. I was informed by She Who Must Be Obeyed that:
1) I am going in a suit. cry
2) I am leaving my bag and Bat belt at home. eek

At that point I balked, that's like being asked to show up wearing my birthday suit and a smile.
So I cheated.
Leatherman PS4 and Victorinox Midnight Manager on a dangler chain right front pocket.
Keys, AAA torch and peanut lighter left front pocket.

During the evening, everything except the lighter got used. grin

At a bridal shower and wedding, my modified Pocket Medic came in handy several times. This was in 2007, before AMK improved the Ultra Light 3. Not only was it used to treat two scraped knees, a safety pin came in handy during a wardrobe malfunction and my youngest sister had a headache during the reception.

Not exactly tuxedo, but I'm EDCing a lot in my business sport coat quite inconspicuously. Including the cut off steel flask with USB self solar charging power bank, AC adapter, USB cable, disposable rain poncho, pepper spray, shocker, water filter, lighter, 256Gb total of various type and format data storage, set of credit, id, business, RFID/NFC access cards, 2 sterile scalpel blades, some pills, safety pins, sewing needles with plenty of #8 nylon thread, and a microfiber cloth. (even more stuff is on my belt, on the neck, and in the pants pockets). The secret is in the organizing this stuff in flat bundles distributing the bulk evenly in the pockets.

Men's formal or semi-formal wear have plenty of pockets. I'm looking at one of my sports coats -- three pockets on the outside (left pocket, right pocket, and ticket pocket), and four pockets on the inside (right chest, left chest, pen pocket on the left, and additional small pocket on the left). Let's not forget the pants pockets. You just have to organize your stuff to have a slim profile so you can avoid unsightly bulges. Evenly distribute them around your body.

The real question is, where should ladies put their EDC in their evening gown.

At my brother's wedding:

Pen/paper - constantly in use. I was part of the wedding party and had all the minor details (like who I was partnered with, schedule, etc.) jotted down in mini composition book. Also, a good opportunity to show off your nicer pens. What's the point of being a gear junkie if you can't show off on occasion.

LM Micra - no use. But, a tuxedo is a perfect place to carry that classic pen or Barlow knife.

Fenix E05 - Critical to have this. Escorting my kids to the bathroom (many times), taking motor mouth (son) outside for a cool down (many times), hauling rear down a dark, unlit driveway, in the rain, to get to the shuttle (large school bus), illuminating the inside of the shuttle

Hanky - It was a warm day. And, of course, the kids.

Earplugs - I did mentions my kids, right!?!

What I should have had:

Moleskin and pocket sewing kit - Thankfully the ladies were nicely prepared for the expected wardrobe problems.

Flask - Not for whiskey, but for water. It was a warm day.

In their date's pockets. It's same reason that women's purses all have tote bag length straps: To make it easier for their husbands to carry it
