Wildfire info - 06/18/13 01:25 AM

Here's a couple of links I saw on Twitter today regarding advice in the aftermath of the Black Forest fires in Colorado.

This one talks about insurance: http://wainsurance.blogspot.com/2013/06/wildfires-and-homeowners-insurance-five.html?spref=tw

This post shows the results of using good practices (long before a fire happens) to passively protect a home from wildfire: http://wildfire.blog.nfpa.org/2013/06/vi...able-areas.html

Be sure to watch the video referenced in the second link.

It seems to me that many people think a wildfire is only a rural problem, but it's not.

Very informative video. In California, the state wide requirement is 100 foot clearance of trees and brush. In my local county, our ordnance requires 300 foot clearance. This greater clearance has resulted in significant fewer structures lost to wildfires in the recent past.
