Fish Canyon Falls & Darlin' Donna Falls - 05/16/11 03:04 AM

I took a little hike yesterday to Fish Canyon Falls & Darlin' Donna Falls with my favorite hiking companion, Hikin' Joyce.

Jim & Joyce en route to Fish Canyon Falls.

All four tiers of Fish Canyon Falls.

Darlin' Donna Falls. This falls reminds me of some of the falls I saw on my trip to Hawaii.

Jim and Joyce at Darlin' Donna Falls.

A "fried egg" (Matilija Poppy).

Apparently enthusiasm for hiking runs in the family. Right, Joyce? Joyce? Joyce?

We eagerly await posts from Hikin' Joyce. What is her opinion on camp stoves?

She says "hot" whenever she sees one of my stove photos. Daddy agrees. smile

Thanks, "Jac". We were having some fun. smile

Good thing too. We came home only to find out that my wife had discovered bed bugs. Our next couple of months aren't going to be much fun. It's like moving out, only you don't have any place to go. frown

Yes, but that's a real mixed bag. We basically have to move out of our apartment everything but the largest pieces of furniture. Then they come through and spray chemicals which supposedly won't hurt us our our daughter after they dry.

Then they come back in a few weeks and repeat. And you have to live in the apartment in between treatments so that the bed bugs have something to feed on (if any survived the first treatment), otherwise the bed bugs will go dormant and you won't know if you got them or not. They can live for about a year without food.

In the mean time everything not chemically sprayed has to be heated to 120 F for 60 minutes or washed since it might harbor eggs. Everything washed has to be dried on high heat. A lot of synthetics will be ruined and have to be replaced.

And of course we'll have to rent a storage unit to move things to while they treat the apartment.

Actually, maybe this section should be moved from "Around the Campfire" to the survival forum. It's not life and death, but this is pretty big.

Thanks for sharing the pics of the hike Jim, Hiking Joyce should be a super hiker in a few years.

Good luck with the bugs, that has to really be a bummer! Hope all works out happily for you.

Yeah, it's a huge bummer. Everything except major furniture items has to be moved out of the rooms (possibly the whole apartment; not clear on that yet). Then they come in and spray.

All of our stuff has to be heated to 160F or so to kill everything.

It's basically like moving but with heat treatment of all items moved thrown in.
