Electric tape - 04/18/10 10:42 AM
I was looking at some utube videos about survival kits and BOBs. I noticed a few folks have electric tape in their kits or BOBs. So what are the advantages iof this tape ?? Some even have electric tape and duct tape. I thought duct tape was universal and good for eveything, well, almost.
From my experience, electricians tape can take heat better and survives being applied and reapplied (doesnt leave glue behind) and doesn't rip as easy.

It can be stretched a little as you apply it to make a better seal. It's not a strong adhesive, and the end tends to lift over time (in my experience). You can break it with your hands, but it's better to cut it.

They are both useful in their own ways.
Duct tape has the advantage of the cloth mesh, usually has a stronger adhesive, and the adhesive is more water resistant.
As another poster pointed out, electrical tape is somewhat elastic, giving it utility in cases where that is handy.

Also, you give some to a rugby player if he needs to retape his ears back.

LOL
MoBob, thanks for the cheery comment.
I also like your signature very much. We had two previous bosses (an idiot and a better idiot) and they were a living proof for anyone who doubts your signature. LOL.
With the first boss we were praying to Almighty to save us and shift that boss somewhere else. After having the second boss, we stopped praying.

Okay, I'll bite: why would a Rugby player tape his ears back to begin with?

He doesn't "begin with" taping the ears back. He tapes 'em back on.
Hint: British rugby does not involve helmets.

I've used 3M super 33+ and it left plenty of glue. It was a real mess.
