Can anyone help with a name for a tool --

I remember seeing this a while back, 20-25 years maybe.

It was not unlike an ulu, but - the blade was straight and also contained a glass cutter wheel, it was held in one hand by a paracord wrapped grip, if I recall correctly the actual grip had finger holes. Had a bunch of little bells and whistles, wire stripper notch, can opener, bottle opener -- pre-leatherman. Not unlike the credit card tools of today, but way beefier and bigger.

A buddy in Special Forces had one that he carried 24/7 out in the weeds. It also had a leather sheath that allowed the blade to be carried on a belt with the grip to the rear or front, depending on the side it was on.

Have all the parachute landings finally caught up with me or has someone else seen this beastie? Any help is appreciated.

the name of the tool with the finger holes was called a "survival rescue tool" I don't belive it is made any longer due to the fact that it looks like brass nuckles and is not allowed in many states.

Thanks Big_al. Looks similar to what I had seen, probably related. Your explanation of the brass knuckles makes perfect sense however.

I remember seeing those in old issues of Soldier of Fortune and American Survival Guide among other "survivalist" magazines of the 80's and 90's.
