Any advice for a Finger Lakes hiking trip? - 02/26/09 01:00 PM

Hi all - my cousin has invited me a along for a hiking trip in the Finger Lakes the second weekend of March. The details/route are still being worked out, but we're looking at a Thursday arrival/get a couple hours down the trail and camp, with a return to the vehicles on Sunday morning and home by early evening Sunday (expecting to drive about 5 or 6 hours).

The Finger Lakes area was chosen because it's roughly a midpoint for us and his buddy coming from New Hampshire. We're planning routes via the Internet - that's always the best way, isn't it?

Here's the current planned trail - anyone know this one, or know of any other possibilities within about an hour of this location? It's the Finger Lakes/North Country Trail in Shindagin State Forest.

Also, any specific suggestions for the area at this time of year? Anyone know the "usual" temperature/weather conditions that can be expected (of course we'll be watching the forecast before we go).

Thanks in advance
