FDNY Private Scanner Feed - 12/16/08 01:00 PM

If you've ever wanted to listen to the FDNY Manhattan (154.250) but found that the regular scanner sites are always overwhelmed or slow, I've got a deal for you.

PM me for the web address of a private live stream of FDNY Radio (Manhattan Only) I set up with a desktop scanner from my office here on 25th street and 7th ave in Manhattan.

Manhattan radio is VERY bursty - you can go 30 minutes without a transmission, and then 90 minutes with constant traffic.

It sure is. Eventually, I'll set up remote control of the scanner so I can play with the channels from home in PA.

Our network ops guy said I have have 32KB upstream bandwith with his OK, I can VNC in to the system, I just need to get the computer-scanner interface going.
