Red Flare Kits

Red Flare Kits - 12/03/08 06:41 PM

Ok, I have some good news regarding e-commerce.

I recently (Sunday Night) ordered restock supplies for all of my FAK's.
I really don't like the On-Line thing having been burned in the past.
I am sure most have read the reason why.

Just now I received my Red Flare Kits first shipment that also included an explanation as to why the rest of my order will be coming in another shipment. That is fast accurate customer service, and I really appreciate it.

I really don't like recommending business, incase they let others down, but for my money these folks have done a great job.

Thanks

No association (yada, yada) Unless they are hiring in DFW Texas area.

Glad to read this as I just ordered 600 ft 550 and some first aid odds and ends.

Thanks for the input

+1 on RedFlare, good place to deal with.

We should do a group buy on 4x4's.

Why?

Individually wrapped 4" x 4" sterile gauze pads are available for around 6 cents a piece almost anywhere, and the non-sterile pads are availble in bulk for just over a penny each.

I interpreted it as a "joke" - as all of use keep saying "More 4x4s" (2 boxes of 50 in reach as I type)

My bad then.

Internet sarcasm can be pretty subtle at times, especially when smileys aren't present.

MFASCO shall now be added to the "approved" list in my bookmarks. Ordered Sunday received Thursday. Keep in mind, that I used USPS "snail mail" for shipping as I have become at tight @&$ in the last year or so.

I was only half joking. Money saved is money saved.

Well, both companies came thru well for me. I just got the kits restocked and also figured out how to re-zip them. (they all look 9.8 months pregnant). Now the problem is new FAK bags. I have too much stuff in two and they won't fit well behind the seat!

Any Ideas. I currently us US M3 bags like this bag (bag only). Needs to be relatively thin as it is going behind the seat of pick-ups.

M3 is the basic platform for each member of my family's BOB. It can be carried by itself, put inside BOB rucksack or MOLLE'd to the outside of the packs. My only complaint is the hook that the zipper "handle" is attached to in not a full circle. Handles come off all the time. Been using these bags since given an issue one in 1990, and love them.

If you have Cheaper Than Dirt stuff you want "looked at" before you buy it PM me. I pass there 2 to 3 times a week OTW elsewhere. We use them for basic BOB (5) FAK (4) Shave Kits (3) and car tool bags (4). The vinyl lining is nice. If something leaks, it stays inside

Not really a fan of the M3,even though I have one stuffed under the backseat of my Explorer. Have you considered the EOD bag from CountyComm? It might be slim enough, has 3 pockets inside the bag. I'm not super fond of it either, but it's about the right size. Plus good quality construction, lots of MOLLE straps on the outside, and a rugged shoulder strap. If you decide to purchase one, don't get black, as items "disappear" into the black hole that is the inside of the bag.

You might also want to take a look at the "Molle deployment bag." Available at many places, such as http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE303-1.html
However, it's a bit small too; there is a newer, slightly larger version available, but I can't find it currently.

The "slightly larger version" is the BIG FAK that is Home / TSHTF / goes on big 5th Wheel trailer trips. Great bag for the money. Looking at this bag from Eagle in tan to replace the FAK and BOB M3's. Dang expensive, but I might buy one to "duplicate" without legal infringement.
