ETS 2009 Spring Meetup Thread - 09/08/08 03:02 AM

In the 32oz Nalgene bottle contest thread the idea for an ETS gathering was brought up. So let's see what people think. Start off by suggesting your top three states for this bangmoot and and the number of nights you could spend there.

My Choices of states:
1. New Mexico
2. Colorado
3. Arizona

Number of nights at the event (not including travel time):
two for sure, maybe three.

I didn't pick Texas because there isn't actually much open public land here, we'd have to meet at someone's property. I'm pretty much open to anywhere though.

Even I would try to make it to something like that.
(But you guys would have to promise not to hit me :p)

I'm planning a trip to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico next year, so that would be my choice. Otherwise, Massachusetts is a little out of the way for most people.

2 days.

Arizona is where ETS is "headquartered" so, either there or New Mexico

3 days for us

Arizona would be good, Nevada too, maybe even Wyoming, which is something like 85% public land...

Good heavens, your wife sounds just like mine! Do they get this information and share it among themselves?

Virginia.
Someone had to bring it east. grin
Actually, how about several "regional" gatherings.

Re: ETS 2009 Spring Meetup Thread - 09/09/08 12:56 AM

I forgot to add that, depending on where we are "working," we will either not be able to attend, or can stay there 'til we run out of food and booze. Gotta worry 'bout Blast tho, my wife likes tall guys...

Virginia
West Virginia
Maryland

Something like this would probably have to be regional.

Nope, I'm 6' (or used to be, maybe 5'11" now), 185 or so. But Blast is TALL! And he has hair!!!

Um, this is sorta turning into a whole 'nother type of meetup. I was thinking of bringing my wife along, but now I'm not so sure. ;-)

I'd prefer NC or whatever is closer to Florida for meetup "East."

Blast, 6'5" and 215lbs, just big bone I'm guessing, I'm a fat shrimp in comparison at 6'2" 240 lbs. Any way, I just wanted to say if you guys can take some pictures once you guys hook up, I think you'll have a blast---or I mean a great time. I wish I could go as well but I used up my time for this year in traveling overseas. I hope you guys get a good time and post them pictures when you get back. I think this will get interesting. Hopefully know body gets voted off the desert. Good luck!!!!!!!

Ya'll know, of course, that Oklahoma is pretty darn near the center of the lower 48...barring that, I'm up for Colorado. Red Dirt Res., 13K feet, bring yer own canoe, gold pans, trout-cookin' gear, and companionship.

On an aside, I'm 5'10", 175#, and not worried about my wife smile

You boys decide when and where and me and my clan will be there.

sounds like a good idea. We prefer the southwest. Pick a date and place and we will be there. Providing we can bring our "house" of course.

If a winter rendevous is being considered, I would have to think Phoenix would be the most likely target.

Logistically it makes good sense, timing wise it would be more practical.

I guess I'll start the bidding then. Phoenix in January anyone?
