Help Me ID This Bug

This was crawling on our tent flap, a good 2 inches long. I don't like flying bugs....

It looks like a black and yellow mud dauber.

Mud dauber...that was my CB handle way back when. Don't ask why I got stuck with that one.

I suspect that fried in molasses they would be right tasty. Ya just gotta smash 'em real good first...

I think it was feeling sickly. My wife was in the tent at the time, I had her pop it off, and it took a few tries. It didn't want to fly away, so I introduced it to the forest floor with the sole of my shoe. Apologies to all the bug people, but I'm not fond of stinging flying things...
