Zipper Lube.... - 08/29/08 12:18 AM
Looking for recommendations on a good lubricant for zippers, both metallic and nylon. Looking to make them easier to pull and quieter. I know some are supposed to be self-lubricating but but they can still be stff and noisy.
Not a hot button issue, but would appreciate greatly some suggestions.
Thanks,
Andy

I have always used candle wax...a rub up and down the zipper and it smooths it right out.

Try candle wax or soap. Just rub it on both sides of the zipper.
Edit: Oops! Sorry Schwert!

Dad and Grandpa always said to use a pencil. The graphite will work as a lube on zippers. Also, check with a big fabric shop, they may have some ideas too.

Scent-free soap or candle wax works and won't attract bears and other animals. I'm also carefull not to bend zippers too much when I pack clothes.
