First of all, a few clarifications.

The "marketplace" forum is actually a read-only section, so don't bother to reply to anything posted there, I moderate them out.

That said if you DO want to place an ad, go ahead and post it, and I'll be notified for approval. The Captcha image is there because the Marketplace forum is always under attack by the Chinese. Seriously - this mornings little ad-flurry was, as usual, from a Chinese host, we take whatever steps we can to limit that exposure. Reporting an invalid/spam post is always a good idea, one of us will kill it quick enough.

Any other questions about marketplace ask them here and I'll answer them.

So, what if you did happen to have a question about something posted there? You could always PM/email the poster, but what if it's of public interest?

And thanks for explaining the addition of the captchas (which don't work anyway, as you may have noticed).

Does the rest of the site allowing posting without having an account? I'm too lazy to logout and try, and I probably couldn't remember my password anyway... smile

Good point, I'll moderate and post any discussions and questions that are of general interest.

They work 97% of the time. Most of the stuff that gets through is by real humans who sit and register and post. It's a horrible job.

No. In fact, I often ponder a way to make registration HARDER because it's a fairly low barrier these days. You might have some idea of the daily scourge of spammers we face, but if not, there are a LOT of attempts to post junk here.
