Anyone carry these for EDC? A guy at work has a neck pouch that has his ID and he has pen slots also. Keep forgetting to ask him.

I hate things aorund my neck, so when I need to have visible ID, I use one of these: Arm Band ID May be small for EDC.

Just a mention that if you are going to wear something around your neck, make sure it has some sort of "weak link" that will seperate if you get it caught somewhere (or someone decides to grab you by it).

I've been wearing a custom made "edc" watchband for several years. It's equipped with a compass, tiny custom made flashlight (the most frequently used light I own), custom 1" mechanical pencil, needle and thread, tiny spark lighter (removed from a cheap lighter), and 1/2" mirror. I've been thinking of adding a few safety pins, floss, loop, wire, some kind of sharp and a few other goodies. I've never had anyone, even the TSA, even bat an eye at it and it's so small, even the brass flashlight does not trigger an alert passing through metal detectors.

I tried carrying a neckknife for a very short while and found that I hate carrying stuff around my neck. Anything I carry around my neck would need to be non-metalic, lightweight (very low inertia) and stay under my shirt. For me to plan to carry stuff there is a non-starter.

I carry my watch around my neck- I use a cent's worth of mason twine. That stuff snaps around 15 pounds.

As requested, here are photos. From top to bottom: mirror, spark lighter, needle and thread wrapped in heat shrink, custom mechanical pencil, "watchlight." and quarter for size comparison. The light is custom made of brass with a glow tube so I can find it in the dark. It runs for hours on a LR44 battery with gradual dimming. On a new battery, it's brighter than a Photon Microlight.

very clever watch...However;

A simple cellphone or pda belt pouch can carry much more, and is very common in todays workplace

Teacher,

That's true, but I don't always have a PDA holder (or other carry medium) on me when I need it. I've always maintained that the smaller something is, the more likely you'll actually carry it and have it when you need it.
