How is your NRA Survival Kit holding up?

How is your NRA Survival Kit holding up? - 07/07/05 09:16 PM

It's been almost a year since posts went up in ETS regarding the sale on NRA Survival Kits. I know many members took advantage of the sale.

Mine has been living in my trunk kit since last years sale. Sun baked 80's average year round temperature, contents seem unaffected.

Have not tried the included tinder. Mirror has not warped. Firestarter works same as first day.

How about yours?

OrangeJoe,

Mine has been in the back of my Jeep throughout the winter and summer with no ill effects. The whistle and mirror haven't melted, and I used the Blastmatch last week to start a barbecue. I haven't tried the tinder tabs, either. Maybe this weekend.

I just got mine today and am really impressed. I ordered it while on sale last week. This is my first experience with the blast match and I am blown away. The Jet scream is not that loud compared to a fox 40. It requires a lot of effort to get not much sound. The mirror is very shiny but a little small. I have not tried the tender but will probably be used in another kit.

I have a few questions.
1) What is the quality of the Wetfire (tender)?
2) Is there a red dot to sight the mirror like with some ether signaling mirrors?
3) Did you keep everything together or did you split up the gear and use the case for something else?

I really look forward to you responces. <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I did a review of the kit over on the OSF forum - it might answer some of your qustions.
