Thanks.

Which reminds me that I need to do all the stuff this year that I wish I'd done last year.
  • Gas! And a couple of more gas cans.
  • Better food and water preparation.
  • Pack a BOB in case I have to go to a shelter. This was, I think, the biggest mistake I made. By the third hurricane, I was fairly well prepared for waiting things out at home. But I pretty much ignored the locations of the shelters, and didn't have a bag packed.
  • Solar shower. Taking a shower with cold water sucks.

For me personally, the single biggest problem after the hurricanes was fuel (gas). One of the hurricanes damaged the port where gas for central florida arrives. Gas shortages for weeks. So even if I don't use it in the generator, I'll have some. I only lost power after the first hurricane, so I never got a chance to use the generator. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Unless I get a direct hit, I really just need to have enough food / water to wait out the debris removal (4-5 days).

"Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy."

I like that.
