Trade in your Altoids tin for your mini-kit - 02/25/05 02:37 PM

I stumbled across something a little better. A Whitman's Chocolate "cloisonne" tin.

It is about a half an inch longer than an altoids tin,and about a hair short of an inch deeper than an altoids tin. Even though I have diabetes, i gave the chocolate to Susan(she's happy now )

This is the best tin,so far, for a few extra goodies in your mini-kit!!!!

PS>>>>>The colorful european baroque design on the tin adds a some class to the mini-kit too.

Even though I currently use an Altoids tin for my PSK on my BK-10 sheath, my EDC PSK for the last couple of years has been in a TooLogic tin. The tooLogic tin is 1" deep by 3 1/8" wide by 5 1/2" long. You can get quite a bit of stuff in there. I even carry an extra seven days of personal medications.

The Tool Logic tin contains the following with a Copy of the List of Contents:
Flint rod, Mini butane lighter, Fresnel lens, 10 half length matches,
2 Birthday candles, 2 Tinder, Flag tape, SAS button compass,
5 fish hooks, 11 split shot, Large fish hook, 2 Snap swivels,
Coil brass wire 20 ga, Wire saw, Prepaid phone card, Dental floss,
Pencil, Water proof stationary 4 sheets,
Needle threader, 2 Safety pins, 2 Large sewing needles, 2 Photon II 2016 batteries,
22 POTABLE-AQUA tablets in Teflon capped bottle to make 11 quarts of water, 2 Whirl bags for water,
9 Various band-aids, 2 2x2 Gauze pads, 2 Alcohol pads, 2 Burn ointment packets,
2 Antiseptic capsules, 10 Coricidin tablets for pain, 3 Triple antibiotic packets, 2 Surgical blades,
2 Pepcid AC Max - Take 1 with glass of water, don’t chew - Limit 2 in 24 hours,
6 Loperamide Hydrochloride 2 mg (Imodium A-D) (MSD L-2) 4 capsules maximum per day for diarrhea,
Medications for 7 days, Dr Hxxxxx, Txxxxx W. at Some Street, Ptld., OR (503) xxx-xxxx:
7 Tablets 20 mg Lisinopril (Prinivil) (MSD 207) in Teflon capped bottle for high blood pressure,
7 Tablets 10 mg Lovastatin (Mevacor) (MSD E 70) in Teflon capped bottle for cholesterol,
7 Tablets 81 mg Ecotrin (Asprin) in metal capsule to thin blood to prevent stroke,

I am looking for something slightly bigger than the Altoids tin for the BK-10 sheath since it can accomodate a larger size. The pocket is to small for the TooLogic tin.

You might look at imported candy tins like the Napoleon Le Bon Bonbon. It is 1" deep by 3 3/16" wide by 4 1/4" long. You can not determine their size via the internet, you have to actually see one.

I try to make each piece of gear I carry into a PSK, whether it is a canteen, sheath knife, FAK, BOB, etc.

I picked up a couple last year, currently building a small Ham radio into one of them.
A Pixie 2 radio fits nicely, with room for a 9 volt battery for power.
