SHOT Show 2005 Coverage?

SHOT Show 2005 Coverage? - 01/28/05 04:32 AM

Much as I love reading Doug's SHOT Show wrap-up reviews, I was wondering if anyone knows of any sites that will be carrying news from this year's show in real-time or semi-live?

I was thinking about this as I have been keeping up with the updates on last week's NAMM show on Harmony Central, and I thought it would be cool for the SHOT Show.

DOugs last year review stoped at sharps and tools... and I dont think part 2 ever came out.

Try Bladeforums and Candlepowerforums... They will have day to day reports and complete coverage.

Pocketlights.com will do a live report from SHOT, in case you are interested in flashlights.

So has anyone been to SHOT? Any info on the new Leatherman tools?

Thanks for the link Ken. So it's two new tools? The Surge really looks a lot like the Wave.

BTW, Benchmade has some interesting new offerings also. Another Griptilian in 154CM for Blackwater Gear for example. I believe they are updating their site as we speak and catalog scans are already in their forum.

Yup.. and the Core looks like the SuperTool.
Wonder if prices of the SuperTool will drop now...
The one hand opening blade is cool, but I just dont like those bit holders.

The "Surge" looks interesting with the scissors on the outer side, but the lack of a file doesn't look like a plus. The bit holder looks like a bad replacement for the long phillips screw driver (which is good for recessed screws), and I doubt it is a space saver.

For now, I'm going to stick with the wave. I would like it if they added the supertool locking system to the wave because I have closed a bit on my hand when using the tool improperly.

It has both a diamond file and a saw. They can be switched in the saw blade holder. That means you can finally use your file to sharpen the blade.

That surge looks fantastic. But where is the text? Come on Leatherman, write up!

That appears to be some pretty beefy scissor action peering out from behind the other tools? An awl, nice. Interchangeable saw & file combo, even creamier.

Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't read anything about it. I made a poor assumption based on that photo.

Thats sounds cool, but I still don't like the bit holder.

I think I may be "forced" to purchase a Core. Looks like everything I need and nothing I don't!
