The body of the rod is produced here in Turkey. The producer is a customer of the company which my wife works for and I had the chance to visit the producer myself when I heard about it.

The rod is made of aluminium and very strong, but the rest (the equipment inside) comes from far east and did not seem very well. Also the rod is so thick.

Reminds me of something I made in shop in school. I had taken a couple of chunks of aluminum tubing and the couplers, and made an 18" handle with a screw off cap and a 6" deep socket for an oak dowel. Then just pin the dowel in place. I also wrapped the metal and the first foot of the wood with raw hide lace (wet, and it shrinks tight as it dries), and added a copper end cap to the dowel

If you know how to work the aluminum, it's about 60 bucks. Figure around 100 if you have to have someone do the metal for you, so it's a little cheaper. And you can make sure the length is right for the user, and be sure that it's good quality metal rather than just white metal.
