This looks like an interesting enough site. The suit looks more functional than just a regular bag.

Okay, let's try this again... - 02/27/04 11:44 PM

Sorry all, my turbo switch isn't working so good these days (remember the old 286 machines?).

Interesting product, I wonder about the cost?

I hate the terms; "emergency use, single use, disposable, throw-away, temporary use, in reference to survival bags, ponchos, and tarps. To me it seems to say, "Not well made". I know some of this stuff is never going to be used for emergency purposes, but I feel much more comfortable with a poncho, tarp, and survival bag that may weigh four times as much but resists tearing, grommet seperation, and puncture.

I have held back to now, but I have to admit I am not a fan of micro-kits like the Altoids kits (I know, I know, major sacralige on this site.). I am more a fan of fanny pouch, shoulder bag, or small backpack as minimal size.

Sorry folks, I just couldn't hold back any longer.

I agree with you in that with exceptions. The "Altoids"size kits are a back up to a better kit.Doug Ritter has several lists for larger do it yourself kits.An "Altoids" size kit is about an size to keep on you.Without the weight and bulk you are not prone to leave it behind when you may need it most. What good is any size survival kit if you don't have it with you.

I have been using shoulder bags for two years now and I intend to keep using them as they are much more convenient than carrying stuff in pockets.

The only time I don't have them on my person is funerals or weddings as I don't want to show up the ladies by carrying a practical bag while they have everything crammed into those cute little napkin holders they call purses. Even then, the bag is in the car, and short of the building falling down which might require a really long pry bar (which I don't have even in my car.) or a folding military shovel with pick (which I do have in my car.), an altoids tin setup is not going to do diddly in those circumstances.

While the pocket tin is MUCH better than nothing, I tend to agree with ya. If my butt's on the line, I've got a lot more gear I want to have with me, but this is still the best site I've found to swap ideas about it all. I also recognise that some folks don't have the option of lugging around the shear mass of goodies/toys that I do. I'm a Laborer, not an office worker, and I get around in a big, old, ugly truck, so I can get by with more that someone who utilizes mass transit or a car pool (although sometimes the gas mileage is a killer).

Just my two cents

My concern is the absorbant inner lining. If I am wet and I get in the bag to reduce hypothermia, I just filled my bag with water. Instead of it pooling in the bottom of the bag and allowing me to pour it out, it is absorbed in the lining and staying wet.
Sounds like wearing a diaper. Not sure if that is what I want.

I like the arms so you can still do things while insulating your body.
