Anyone else have a Galyans by them? - 01/20/04 10:06 PM

I just found this store in my local mall and they are great! It's like the Sports Authority and EMS all rolled into one. I picked up a new metal cup, strike anywhere matches, a few more Nalgene bottles to take snomobiling, some accessory cord, a few knives, plus plenty of other stuff. (Paintball stuff, some pellets for my rifle, ect) It is now my favorite store. It even has a rock wall inside! Prices are around average to above average. If you can find one of these near you check it out.

I have got one near me, in Arlington (texas) it's great! it's got just about as much as REI, Bought my unsuccessful Solo storm there. Great pureification section. No Website though like REI. Even has guns! and fishing!

Have one near me as well. Yea the prices are high, but sometimes that is the price you pay to touch things before you buy them. Sign up for their little shopper card and they will mail you info on clearance sales a couple times a year.

Paul,
We just had 1 open here in Central Va. and it has quickly become my favorite "toy" store. Not only does it carry multiple selections of the same type of item, often 15 or more as is the case with the camp stoves and lights, but their staff seems to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about discussing both the merits and faults of the equipment and even alternatives which they might not even carry. All in all a great place to spend an afternoon.

3 hours and counting before I go!!!

My corp's HQ is a block away from Galyan's (Leawood, KS) and I have a meeting there in a few hours. Been looking forward to this all week (not the meeting, but adding to my gadget inventory ).

I agree the prices are a little higher than normal, but they usually have things in stock, can put your hands on stuff, and they they have everthing from skiing, hunting, fishing, camping and more. Sad to say, but I kinda like them better than REI (and I used to live near one in Denver).

BTW, anyone need me to price an item?
