Yay! I finally got the bugs worked out! My husband Larry (retired USAF E-9) live in the Seattle area. Home to earthquakes, flood and the occasional volcanic eruption. We also wilderness fish and black powder hunt. We have acquired a great deal of equipment over the years and have become quite self sufficent, but after reviewing your topics, I have discovered that we could be much better organized. I am now going room by room and kit by kit to see what is there and what is missing. THANKS! I look forward to joining in - BTW - Chris invited me to join - I'm the person who answered the question about the floor for a Thermette. I look forward to finding out how PRESUMED LOST likes his...

Haevyrn,

Since you invoked me by name, let me be the first to welcome you aboard. Thanks for (however indirectly) providing the information you have, and I look forward to your insights in the future.

I think new posters invoke a lot of names with our troublesome logon. Consider it a right of passage less painfull than many initiation rights. Meanwhile, my own nephew managed to get several emails off for me while I played cowboy all night. I cmae home and he said he had a TERRIBLE NIGHT fixing it , and hey, uncle Chris, why are yo so filthy? <img src="images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Thank you - I found the forum when I searched "Thermettes" on-line and your thread came up - I liked your test on the various kettle designs - especially the Kelly Kettle (which we have) We just came back from an Elk hunt and took the Thermette - the Kelly stayed home. There are disadvantages to all, but basically it (Thermette) does hold more water, it heats faster overall and you don't need 2 hands... However, we do have the ear of the manufacturer in New Zealand, and are talking about improvements... I would appreciate your thoughts when yours gets to you.

No objection to being "invoked" by name- it just gave me "permission" to respond directly, that's all.

Back somewhere around the time of the "Great Waterbag Tests", I was... made aware that freely my voicing opinions (as is my habit) was annoying certain people. Now, to some extent I don't feel much responsibility for that- it never occurred to me that anyone would take my opinions more seriously than they cared to, maybe even more seriously than I do... but, on the other hand, I get no kick out of annoying people, so I've reduced my presence somewhat for many months, and avoided controversial subjects, no matter how silly or trivial the controversy.

So, being referred to by name, I felt free to respond, that's all.

So sorry to hear of your ordeal, Chris- sounds like you need to ignore us for awhile, get a good deal of R&R, take care of critters and business. We'll promise to behave until you have more time to deal with us.
