A Douk Douk is a french knife marketed by a family firm since 1927. They combine excellent steel with a cheap and simple design. The handle is folded steel that encloses a non locking blade spring. Rockwell is @ 52. They are very sharp. The Douk Douk gets it's name from a Polynesian demon. They were exported and then produced in the former french african colonies, french Tahiti etc. They are on par with the South African Okapis, French Opinels and Swedish Moras ; inexpensive, excellent steels and razor sharp. A spinoff is the famous German Kat knife. A miserable forgery is being produced and sold in catalogs and EBAY. The lock is sloppy, blade pin weak and the gold KAT inlay literally comes off in your hand. <img src="images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />
