That's just so sad, and so preventable.

What's worse, we've seen it before. The person who stays with the vehicle survives; the (inexperienced) person who walks out for help does not.

It's as if every vehicle needs to come with a small survival/first aid kit for the glove box, with big friendly letters on the cover -- "Don't Panic!" and "Stay With Your Vehicle and Survive!"
