Is XCaper industries LLC out of business? - 09/10/21 06:44 PM

I’ve been trying by phone and email contacts, listed on their still operative web site, to reach XCaper industries. No luck. Comes up as disconnected or attached to some general advertisement site. Anyone know if they are still operating? I want to trade in old ,unused smoke masksmasks and purchase new ones..

OK. I’ve been researching alternatives to the XCaper Mask. One interesting candidate is the HKPocket Smoke Escape Hood. Looks like Chinese Mfg. flat ,lightweight ,foil envelop in vinyl like notebook. Single use/ One Size Fits All. $32.95, Free Delivery

Promises 20 minute protection from : CO, CO2, HCL,HS,HCN, H2S, Ammonia, Acriclic Acid, Carbon Tet., & Acolein, thru a 6 stage filter ,inc. activated charcoal filters. Potential CBW protection. Fire Resistant Hood. ( I’m sounding like a commercial. I know).

I have looked and cannot find independent testing or reviews. Does anyone know of any useful reviews or evaluations or even opinions?

My goal is a mask to facilitate evacuation from a high-rise building, smokey subway tunnel, or does dust field from a building collapse such as occurred after 911 at the WTC Collapse. Mask would be carried in a small backpack ( 8-9 L) EDC / GHB along with other gear

I’ve resisted buying something like this — it’s been quite some time since I spent any appreciable part of my day in a high-rise building. But I can see the utility. I hope you find the information you’re seeking.

A long time ago i did a lot of research on this issue. Can't find the article I did back then. Bottom line, if it's cheap, it is pretty much useless.

As a result of that research, I carried a Parat-C for years traveling until the TSA made it too too big of a PITA. The good ones are all sealed and all have expiration dates (which are probably worst case, but....)

Here's a later iteration of the article I did probably 10 years earlier. It's also old, but...

Pretty sure that is scientifically impossible. Otherwise you would never see hazmat suits, scuba tanks, etc.
