I have a friend who was treed by wild pigs in California, here is someone who was treed by a pack of wolves.

Scary! It's not for no reason that I carry a sidearm with me in the woods. I did so in SD and will absolutely do so now that I'm in Idaho.

Some years ago, there were wild pigs on many of the Channel islands and they were a disruptive pain. I was charged by one once and a well timed (fortunately!) kick in the snout turned him away. If I had been carrying, I would have been tempted to shoot, but a kick was even quicker and effective enough...
