Hiking Safely in Mtn Goat country - 07/28/17 06:14 PM

More about safety around wildlife from Rich Landers.

Basic rules of interaction with goats:

Don't feed them anything.
Don't urinate on or near the trail (good practice whether goats are present or not).
If a goat approaches you and can't be dissuaded, it's up to the human to retreat.
Don't leave your pack unattended. The goats will chew the straps in search of salt.
Be polite and respectful of all wildlife.

Just goats? Leave the wildlife alone, even the adorable chipmunks (hard to believe though it may be....).

They can bite. I know that from experience.
