All of these are great! Spot on, really. I guess my submission would be that you might be new if your B.O.B. is a backpack that weighs 90lbs and you're never tried to it on or hiked with it.

Re: How to tell if you're new at this... - 04/11/14 03:11 AM

Different batteries can be a good thing. It can allow you to use the batteries that you have on hand or reduce the size of the back-up. My EDC is either a 2xAA or 2x123 and a 1xAAA. The AAA is only for back-up or second light use with a lithium battery (coin cells are usually nearly dead when I go to use them). By the time the primary light and the lithium in the AAA, most places will probably be out of AA, may be out of 123, but might still have AAA.

Re: How to tell if you're new at this... - 04/20/14 04:06 PM

I have Tactical Dogs. They are short legged, each has their own camouflage pattern, and they will do anything for a Milk Bone (no affiliation). Both of them have quadrupedal drive train systems, good optics, great sound sensors, and are equipped with strong burgler repelling sound producing devices in both Arf and Ruff languages. They are both equipped with marking devices which are able to be detected by a well trained nose, but are not detectable by optics under most conditions, at least after the marking material has dried. Both respond to voice command although there are apparently some computer glitches in their voice recognition software. All their software is kept secure under a hardened calcium armour plating. The Tactical dogs do have a built in "clap on-clap off" switch built into their software program. It was a patch applied to try and solve some of their voice recognition programming glitches.

Just add a lot of water, a little meat like pork, a little salt, and 12hrs of low heat.

Pour beans over rice if you 're in a Cajun mood or over cornbread if you're in a Texian mood.

Dude, those things are self-cleaning! Usually no human washing is required unless they get into some deep doodoo.

Revised "tell": if you try to bathe your cat, you're new at this.

Re: How to tell if you're new at this... - 04/23/14 01:08 AM

I was < 5 at the time & thought kitty needed a bath! grin Had about 1/4" of water in the tub & tried to set him in. One claw (not one paw full, one scratch) & I had the sense to let him go his way & I went mine. I figured out real quick about cats being self washing.

The only way I'd try to wash a cat today is start the shower, close the door, & toss cat over the top of the door.

As my daughter recently pointed out, it is easier for a male to EDC things. Guys pretty much always wear pants with 2 front pockets, 2 back pockets and a belt at a minimum. Girls have a much more varied wardrobe.

I suppose girls can carry purses though.

I've found myself using a County Comm Gaffer's Bag to carry all sorts of sundry items. They are not a backpack and have nowhere near the volume, but they can carry lots of different items and those items can be heavy. YMMV, for some applications it's ideal.
