Fallkniven is my core knife. The current steel is VG10, available only in Japan and restricted for export. They use a Moran, or convex edge. This intimidates first time sharpeners. The included sharpening instructions make it easy. I believe in a recent salt water emmersion test they actually came out on top- against stainless steels and powder coated competitors. You have a choice of sheaths; leather, kydex and earlier units had a lousy nylon effort. There is a dedicated forum @ www.knifeforums.com with loads of information. You can even email or post questions to Peter directly. I have had several pleasant exchanges with him. Some people object to the thermorun handles. I haven't had any problems. The extruded tang for hammering is a plus. It isn't really for general pounding, but for a swedish style of cutting wood.

i just got mine Fällkniven S1( a used one), it sure looks good to me, much stronger than any other knife i got. havent test it yet, though.
i got both the nylon(cordura) and leather sheat. The cordura sheet doesnt look that lousy to me, actually i think its pretty good. it's pretty thick and 4 steel things prevents the knife from slicing thought the sheet and a clip thing on top of the sheet to secure the blade.

Hi PC2K!

You probably may obtain the Fällkniven Kydex Sheath along with the Tecklock and you'll have all fastening problems solved. Furthermore you are equipped with a sturdy, lightweight, waterresistent and secure package. BTW, the S1 is one of my favorite knives and as far as the blade is concerned almost indestructible. Good choice.
