Elsewhere on the al.com site I found this bit that shows some part of life is still 'normal' in Alabama. Maybe you have to understand the true depth of enmity in the Alabama-Auburn rivalry to see the humor:
True Auburn story: My brother-in-law was visiting with his wife to help us clean debris from our home and yard. He was wearing an Auburn hat and was in our front yard, small tree hoisted overhead getting ready to dump it in the road. An SUV pulled up. A girl rolled the window down.
Her: "Dude, First of all, you're wearing an Auburn hat." (At this point I run to the car to defend him.) But would you like a cold beer?" she said, hoisting one in his face. "Seriously? Wanna cold beer?"
He smiled and shook his head.
Me: "Awesome. Rock on, sister. Spread the beer wealth."
My thoughts are with all those who were impacted by the April 27 tornadoes.
