A few new purchases

A few new purchases - 03/24/11 12:19 AM

Went to the store today and picked up a few items as you can see. I found small baking pans, measuring cups a Alum 32oz bottle, allsorts and cotton string.

Having issues finding reasonably sized things to boil water in for kits I went outside the box and found these awesome different sized Baking pans. The smallest is about 3x2x1 inch. Also I got stainless steel measuring cups which I realized can easily serve the purpose. Not to mention with the measuring cups I have a small range of sizes to figure which fits better into what kit. The biggest is 1cup the smallest 1/4th cup I figure making a bowl out of alum foil it wouldnt end up much bigger then 1cup and I do realize 1/4th a cup aint much but I wasnt much going for the smallest of the pack.

I picked up a alum bottle for storing dry foods like Oatmeal and rice and a back of allsorts for well eating =D!

Cotton string i mainly picked up for wicking in candles and oil lamps of sorts.

EDIT

KK Got a pic of the marlin too now enjoy =D

Now there's a guy who loves his liquorice allsorts.
Boy does that bring back memories. Haven't eaten those since I was a kid.

You might want to take a minute - and explain to people here what they are.

Frisket, try the measuring cups first.

I had that idea once. I might have had to buy a new set of measuring cups for my grandmother after the handle of her 1 cup cup fell off...

Bertie Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts are useful for Calorific intake, intestinal comfort (constipation and vomiting), wide ranging anti-viral (effective against SARS), and also appetite suppression.

All quite correct. But you neglected to mention the SAR angle: "A draghound will follow aniseed from here to John o'Groat's."

Bigger they come, harder they fall. grin

But this is turning into a lot of work. If it were anything but Allsorts ...

First time I have ever been a good example! A warning to others, frequently, but a good example is a new one ;-)

LOL!! Maybe we should bump this thread to the one about the luxury items we carry in our kits. we've clearly found onr that makes grown men drool. wink

i've lost track of who started this but i've got a new item on my shopping list - thanks!

as for the baking stuff - great ideas! cheap, simple and effective. i've used an old pie plate in my mess kit for 30 years so i emrace thinking outside the box. Those measuring cups look great. i'm just wondering about their size. rifling through the kitchen this morning, i checked mine out. The 1 cup looks like it might be a good size. The others looked a little small. Anything is better than nothing but i prefer to go bigger. those baking pans maybe better. N o handles butmthey'd be managable without.
