Life Jacket Kit - 10/21/02 01:29 PM

I haven't seen this rig before.
http://www.stayaliveinc.com/
Has anyone had hands-on experience with it? Any observations?

It looks fine. Except the price tag of $179 is not too kosher. But couple of things. One size fits all. I tried that approach with PDF before and it doesn't work. If for example you have to bail out and jump into the water from some height one size vests have a tendency to be pulled over your head. I would much rather have a snug fit vest than this. Vest that I have for kayaking has three pockets and a cross chest knife mount. I don't understand why they are going for three flares. That takes a lot of space. I prefer pen flares with extra shells. It takes much less space. No beacon/strobe signaling device. Velcro closures have tendency to open in rough water or when trying to get into the raft. No basic first aid kit. No room for anything else.

It's a good product if you just want to have somethign in case.
