The latest on this guy who went hiking last November in the Gila National Forest, got lost, choppered out, and nearly died. His trusty dog Zulu, who probably saved his life, got spooked and took off. Now the hiker is searching for Zulu. Read more at www.gettingprepared.info.

I hope he finds his dog. But after this much time it is hard to have all that much hope. But, you never know.

It was either last summer or the summer before that a dog saved his human from a bear in WI. IIRC, the human survived but the dog did not.

Yeah, it's been a long time.

This story doesn't exactly qualify as saving an owner in a bear attack, but almost. This woman's story is pretty amazing.

There are very few things worse than losing a dog. Obviously, the death of a child/parent/spouse/sibling is harder, but there is something just heart wrenching when a dog dies. My Golden Retriever, Ranger died this January and I'm still hurting frown

Hope all lost pets make it back home tonight.
