FastFind case - 12/19/09 08:41 PM
I just got my new FastFind PLB and am trying to decide on the best way to carry it. Has anyone found a leather or nylon belt case/holster that fits well and offers decent protection?
Thanks

Head down to your local cell phone store, radio shack or wherever. Many of the stretchy neoprene holsters for a standard cell phone will work.

I noticed this on Amazon yesterday (leather):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BZR...MWEA4BGMZSAWVXMIf the URL doesn't work, search Amazon.com using "tuff-luv mcmurdo"

If you are looking more for protection than for
easy access, try an otterbox, which is a tough,
waterproof, crush resistant box.
I find that the otterbox 2000 fits a lot of personal
electronics often with extra space for other items.
To make the case belt mountable, pick up a
3 magazine pouch for an M-16 at your local
surplus store. Cut out the dividers, and
you will find that it fits the otterbox quite well.

Witz makes a number of fairly small water- and shock-proof cases that may be suitable for something about the size of the fast find. Most have belt clips as well as carabiners.

I sort of ran into the same problem with with DeLorme PN-40. You just can't find a case for it to clip to a shoulder harness, pack or belt. You can lanyard but...meh, it makes a heavy necklace. I tried office supplie stores, hardware stores, phone outlets, electronic stores, outdoor stores. Nothing that fit the PN-40 and could be carried outdoors.
I ended up at a military surplus store and got a MOLLE compatible radio case. Perfect. Fit is adjustable and I can attach it to anything.
