CWP for concealed carry - 09/20/02 02:21 AM

I live in California. How would I go about getting a Concealed Weapons Permit. What would be a vilid reason to put on the application?

Securing a CWP in our state is very difficult. A valid reason would be carrying large sums of money or valuables, controlled substances ( such as a pharmacist) or be a high profile celebrity. Skirting the thin ice of politics here, our state is very hostile to firearms.

Also check with local SO and see if thet're issued.

You stand a chance if you live in a more rural county. Unless you're a bail bondsman, a banker, politician, or movie star. it'll be tough in the city. Very tough.

If you live within city limits, go to the local police department. If you live in the county area, go to the sheriffs office. Some jurisdictions (usually the smaller ones) are pretty easy to deal with and issue a lot of permits, usually for "personal protection." Others issue none. It really depends on where you live within the state...
