** Ancient Chinese saying:

It takes a year to grow crops.

It takes a century to grow a tree.

It takes 50 years to grow a man...

**at least that what the quote on the bathroom stall said it was.....

BTW, I'm only 44 3/4 years old and I still got some growing up to do or so my wife says and she's always right....

Hey, Blast. Forget the six week program. Imagine how many push up's you could do after 32 weeks with the Royal Marines!

I hit 60 in a few days, God willing!

Recently completed Paul Castle's CQC pistol course, and have joined an Elite Special Forces Team called
FOCOM
..fraternal order of cranky old men.

Our Motto:

"Don't pick a fight with an old man. We have nothing to loose, and will just go ahead and kill you."

My new credo!!

i agree with this line of thought:

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: ‘Wow – what a Ride’!"

Quoting Bette Davis
"Growing old isn't for sissys: smirk

I've been working on my rocking chair now for a while, couple of more years and it'll be just right

An adage from my old neighborhood was that: 'You don't fight old men or junkies because neither has anything to lose.'

This was brought up after an old guy with a artificial leg took it off and beat a mugger to death. The state wanted to prosecute but blanched when the guy told the judge that to him jail would be 'three hots and cot', three meals a day and a warm place to sleep, and free health care.

Don't know who said this, but:

"Youth is a gift of nature -
Age is a work of art."

"..."Don't pick a fight with an old man. We have nothing to loose, and will just go ahead and kill you."..."

When I was still working, I used a slight variation of that many times on young guys covered with jailhouse tattoos and bulging muscles. Never had to fight (or shoot) one, so I guess it worked...

Quote from 'Frasier'

Frasier: "I'm not middle aged, that's 50, or 55"
Niles: "Sure; if you live to 110!"

I have always been fond of:

For a mountain, I am not yet begun.
For a fly, I am incomparably ancient.
For me, I am just right.

We won't even get into what you can't see in the picture... laugh

Warning: True story not for the faint-hearted:

When I was in nursing school I was helping an patient transfer from bed to chair, he was in his 90's.

When I sat him up on the side of the bed, he recoiled in discomfort saying "oh, oh, oh!"

I asked him if he had pulled his abdominal incision, he replied "no, I'm sitting on my balls! The damned things just get in the way sometimes... I should just cut them off and be done with it...."
