Worlds first Wave powered boat, Japanese master sailor and environmentalist Kenichi Horie waves from "Mermaid II", powered only by waves in March off the coast of Waikiki in Hawaii. Horie has completed a 110-day solo voyage across the Pacific Ocean in a boat propelled by wave power to claim another world first.

Interesting. Not being a sailorman, or an engineer, or very smart, I have to wonder how this thing works if there are few waves, or you are going with the current, or something like that...

I assume that when there are no waves it behaves just as ships did when the was no wind in the Age of Sail: better not be in a hurry.
