My new Orange Survival Sheath Rig

My new Orange Survival Sheath Rig - 04/29/08 02:04 AM

Hi all I got this sheath today for one of the knives
I make called the Kelly Knife. Jeff Hamilton made the
sheath for me. I asked Jeff to put a place to carry
a firesteel and a sharpener and he did. The knife
fits in the sheath like a glove and is very secure.
This is what I think of as a Survival Knife with
a couple of survival goodies to help out in the
event of an emergency. Easy to see knife, easy
to see fire steel, easy to see sharpener and pouch
all in one.
What do you think.

The black rod is obviously a flint, but what's the light-colored rod ? I'm guessing that it's made out of titanium, and that the two rods are going to produce a spark when they are rubbed up against each other. Am I wrong ? LW.

It needs a strap to keep things in place when out in the bush. Easy for things to work their way out or get hooked on something and pulled out without you noticing it till miles later.

Nice set up.

Nitpicking, I would have set the fire steel a little lower as to not interfere with gripping the knife.

Light one looks like a diamond type sharpener to me...

Hi all,

Jasond I make and sell knives and I am working with Jeff
Hamilton about making knives and having him do the kydex sheath work.

Big city hillbilly the shiny brass rod looking thing is a E-Z
lap diamond sharpener model M.

Bob s the fit is just awesome with this knife and sheath.
you have to see it to beleive it.

Take care all,

I know it fits tight now, as they all do when new. I have a Cold Steel Mini Tanto (sp?) that fit tight 17-years ago, but now it’s not so tight and the strap is a big help to heep it in place. The Velcro quit being so sticky a few years ago and I put new Velcro on it and it’s back to staying securely in place.

I want to sent the knife back to Cold Steel to have a new rubber grip on it, as it’s starting to degrade. I just have to call them to see if they can put new grips on it.
